WHAT IS THE ROLE OF YOUR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR?
The school counselor is here to help all students, parents, faculty, and staff with academic, social, and personal needs. Student academic progress is monitored by your teacher and counselor working together. Your counselor is specially trained to help each student find solutions to problems, meet the challenges of growing up, and better understand who you are. Your counselor can be a valuable friend.
A primary goal of this program is to enhance the positive self-concept of every child. Children who feel good about themselves perform better in every area of their life and become well-rounded individuals.
Although elementary school doesn’t seem like the time to focus on careers, Guidance Counselors help create awareness of the world of work and how students’ school lives relate to their future possibilities.
The Guidance Counselor is one of many team members who work together in the school to help maximize student abilities and future opportunities.
